Classic Car Addict is excited to present this all original 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. If you were a successful person in the early 1970s, and you wanted to drive the very best automobile in the world, you bought a Mercedes-Benz. The very best Mercedes that you could buy in this era was the “W108/W109” model, the predecessor of what we now know as the “S-Class”. Next to the legendary 300SEL 6.3, the 280SEL 4.5 in 1972 was the highest performing and most luxurious Mercedes available, with the newly designed 4.5-liter V8 engine under the hood providing more than ample power and torque. Finished in Horizon Blue (paint code number 304) with beautiful black interior. We believe that this 280SEL had a repaint once in its life, we just don’t know the exact dates. Consignor stated that this was a garage kept vehicle and there are a few cracks in the dashboard along with scratches on the wood trim at the base of the windshield. This incredibly well cared for, low mile 280SEL is among one of the nicest examples we’ve had the pleasure of offering for sale. With only 58,148 original miles this makes it a perfect investment! The black vinyl interior is in great shape. No rips or tears can be seen in the seats. Door panels are also in great condition. The steering wheel shows cracks and fronts VDO instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer, a combination gauge, and an analog clock. The interior features a floor shifter as well as front and rear center armrests with a storage console for front passengers. Power is provided by a 4.5-liter M117 V8 which is factory rated at 195 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft of torque which is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. This was a family-owned car which was bought new back in 1972 and was passed down. We love the Mercedes-Benz models from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
