1967 Pontiac Le Mans

Classic Car Addict is excited to feature this 1967 Pontiac LeMans Sprint in our Mesa, AZ showroom. History: John Z. DeLorean was a true innovator. Pontiac's chief engineer and later general manager, DeLorean was responsible for launching the GTO, kicking off the whole muscle car movement--and the rest, as we say, is history. Approximately 5,500 Le Mans of all body styles were equipped as Sprints, from a total Le Mans production of nearly 105,000 units. In the case of this feature car, a two-door hardtop (the most popular choice for Sprints) about 4,000 units (2,900 manuals and 1,100 automatics) were produced. Exterior: Occasionally, a subtle tweak of a more commonly encountered color can make a world of difference, and that's what we have here. The white paint is in great shape from front to back, with a nice smooth glow. It provides a very effective backdrop for the clean red stripes running along the sides. Up front, the signature vertically placed dual twin headlights sit in fresh chrome casings to either side of the split front grille that really pops against its black background. As you circle the car, you'll notice that every badge and emblem sit securely in place and looks very sharp. This is a well-aligned classic, with nice tight gaps surrounding its body panels, as well as doors, hood, and deck lid that open and shut without any issues. Interior: The red vinyl interior has all the aesthetic elements of a first-class vintage driving environment. It retains its original look and is in impressive condition. The wide bucket seats up front and bench seat in back still have a fresh appearance, with plenty of padding for comfort and no visible signs of distress on the surfaces. Below them, the red carpet lining the floor is nice and fresh, while above, the headliner is also in great shape. The dash area still has its original gauges in its instrument cluster, and they're still functional. The dash pad is straight and has yet to develop any cracks. This is a sizable muscle car, so the trunk area in back is nice and roomy, even with its fresh-looking factory spare and period-correct jack inside. ENGINE: During 1966 and 1967, all Pontiac LeMans models came standard with the 165hp OHC-6, but if you checked option code 332 (the Sprint package) you got the four-barrel Quadrajet version that developed 207hp at 5,200 RPM and 228-lbs.ft. of torque at 3,800 RPM (215hp with 240-lbs.ft. of torque in the '67 models); this was the only engine available with the Sprint package. At 10.5:1 compression, premium fuel was required, and Sprint-equipped cars could easily run with many smaller V-8s of the period. It's a healthy-sounding, smoothing running engine, with plenty of power to propel this vintage Pontiac with conviction on its stock 14" PMD wheels that are outfitted with BF Goodrich Redline radials. Its power steering is in top form to provide easy navigation, and power brakes are at all four corners for low effort stops. Transmission: The only automatic transmission available was the Buick ST-300 (Super Turbine) two-speed, often incorrectly referred to as a Chevy Powerglide. The shifts are smooth but firm with no hesitation felt. Undercarriage: That's nice and solid. The pull of a classic Pontiac that's looking great and in very road-ready condition is strong and this 1967 Pontiac LeMans Sprint offers a great chance to act on it.
