1962 Chevrolet Nova

Classic Car Addict is proud to present this 1962 Chevrolet Nova for sale in our Mesa, AZ showroom. Entering the early 60s Chevrolet wanted to make a new compact car and unknowingly created a classic that would be love for generations to come. Chevrolet introduced the Nova nameplate in 1962 as the top trim level for the new Chevy II compact. While Chevy's first compact, the innovative (and ultimately doomed) Corvair, was aimed at the Volkswagen Beetle, the Chevy II was a counter to Ford's wildly successful 1960 Falcon. Unlike the rear-engine Corvair, the Chevy II was a fairly conventional car. Known internally as the X-body, it was also sold as the Acadian in Canada and Chile. The tidy Chevy II was a more traditional approach to the compact car wars of the time, it was a tad larger than the Corvair, but still smaller and lighter than an Impala or Bel Air. It's also a good-looking car, restrained and smooth, with styling that echoes some of its big brothers in the GM line. The lines of the early nova were simple and give a clear Muscle Car feel to the overall look of the car. Simple interiors were typical of the early Chevy II's, but that's not now the case at all here. Open the doors and the mostly original interior with updated contrasting red vinyl/cloth seats will greet you. The two comfortable bench seats are in great shape. In front of the driver is an orange/red factory style steering wheel that sits on a painted steering column. Beyond the wheel, you'll find an original dash that houses the original gauge clusters with additional iequus auxiliary gauges under the center dash. On the floor the black carpet is in great shape and are protected by floor mats embroidered NOVA. Overall, the interior is in excellent shape and accents the exterior extremely nicely. The exterior is painted in a Carbon Metallic Gloss Black paint job with an awesome contrasting orange. A silver orange and purple stripe divide the colors in a great looking combo. There are a few imperfections but the body is rust free along with the under carriage. Pop the hood and the custom theme continues as a beautiful sounding, 327 V8 with and Edelbrock AVS2 four-barrel carb on top of an Edelbrock aluminum intake. Ready for show or go, the engine is in great shape. Long tube headers were added to help it breath better. It features an electric MSD ignition, and a polished master cylinder and break booster. This Nova does not have power steering. Power drum brakes on all four corners help it stop. The 10-bolt rear end is powered by a three-speed TH350 automatic transmission. Dual exhaust, new shocks, and a new fuel tank equip this Chevy. This Chevy rides on SKOP rims and 215/45ZR17 on the front and 225/45ZR17’s on the rear.
